A New Year's Prayer

"there are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind."

- CS Lewis

Taking in all the resolutions i see swirling on social media and pondering my weariness and my own desires for the coming year led my heart to process by writing this prayer:

Oh Father, I'm so grateful for quiet.

These past few months have been ALOT-  Cover me- YOU alone are my refuge.

I know all of it was a gift from your kind hand- and as much as i could sit and evaluate now and "plan" a different reality for the coming year- a SLOWER pace- the truth is that I want to commit my way to you- to walk by faith and not by sight- and say, "not my will but your will be done."

I lay my desires at your feet...

Jesus, YOU hold me- in your presence are pleasures evermore.

Whatever your goodness brings would you set my eyes on the City that is coming- on the King and His Kingdom- would you pour out your kind mercy in the journey- quiet my heart that i might sense your presence, hear your voice and feel your breath on my face.

I humbly ask for holy moments and glimpses of your heart-

I long to drink deeply of you.

I long for more of your Spirit.

i pray you hold me close.

give me grace in small things. i am small.

All of creation waits for you to open your hand to satisfy their needs-

I wait for you to satisfy my desires with good things.

I pray you give me your heart- ignite a fire in me and around me for your glory- ignite afresh your vision in me- draw me into your word with great passion and curiosity that i might sink deep into your love.

Be tender with me; you remember my frailty - you know what I'm made of and you see me.  you see how dark is my darkness and need- you know my thoughts.

Light my way and cover me underneath your feathers- let me be hidden in you.

You are my shield.

Would you be a wall of fire around me and would you be my glory within.

My heart and my flesh may fail but you are the strength of my life and my portion forever.
